What is Parent Aide?

Parent Aide is a home visitation program that supports families with children of all ages. Parent Aides are professionally trained individuals who can serve as a mentor to families that seek assistance in dealing with life’s daily challenges.

 CAPS Parent Aide program is the local provider for the Community Partners for Safe Families program.

 Parent Aide is a program model of the National Exchange Club Foundation.

What can a Parent Aide do to help?

Parent Aides help you build self-confidence, self-sufficiency and coping skills. Many parents benefit by understanding child development, while learning how to improve their home environment. Parent Aides assist in making social connections and using community resources so families not alone in the parenting process. Parent Aides provide support and encouragement, by goal setting and practicing helpful parenting techniques, they focus on what is going well and address needs of families by referring to community agencies when available.

Who can be a part of Parent Aide?

The Parent Aide program is free and open to anyone with children under the age of 18, who live in Elkhart County, who have an interest in learning more about parenting and would like a mentor to visit them in their home.
