Hundreds gathered at the Lerner Theatre in support of Child and Parent Services (CAPS) on Thursday, February 13, 2025, for a powerful morning of awareness and advocacy at the CAPS Pinwheel Breakfast. The event featured Andrew Bridge, a Harvard Law graduate, former foster child, and bestselling author of Hope’s Boy and The Child Catcher, who delivered an inspiring keynote on the importance of supporting children and families.

Bridge, a lifelong advocate for children’s rights, shared his personal journey and emphasized the impact that strong communities can have on the well-being of children. His words resonated deeply with attendees, reinforcing the urgency of CAPS’ mission to protect children from abuse and neglect while empowering families with the resources they need to thrive.

Following the event, CAPS CEO, Rebecca Shetler Fast shared:

” Thank you for being part of a community that works to surround every child with protection, safety, and love. Together, we can build the safest, strongest community—one where families are supported, and every child grows up nurtured, valued, and free from neglect or abuse”.

Andrew Bridge echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of collective action:

“It was such a privilege to be with CAPS and the Elkhart community, who care so deeply about their children and families. When communities unite, real change can be created not just for individual children but for generations to come.”

The CAPS Pinwheel Breakfast served as a meaningful opportunity to engage the broader community in its mission: ensuring every child experiences a safe, healthy, and loving childhood.
