Dear Friends,

As we reach the season when autumn yields to winter, I find myself reflecting on the legacies of hope and resilience that have nurtured CAPS’ journey, much like the roots that sustain trees through the colder months. This year has been especially meaningful, bolstered by the unwavering dedication of our team and the steadfast support of a community united to bring warmth and hope to families and children in need.

Early in the year, our community gathered for an inspiring Pinwheel Breakfast with Hollywood producer and child abuse survivor David Goldblum, who reminded us that abuse knows no boundaries and that our collective response is essential. During our spring Child Abuse Prevention awareness campaign in April, our community planted over 10,000 pinwheels across our region—a record in our nearly 50-year history. Each pinwheel was a bright, tangible symbol of hope and a testament to the committed support that made it possible for CAPS to serve nearly 5,300 children and parents this year. As summer came to a close, we gathered for the annual CAPS gala, where we celebrated the transformed lives in our Healthy Families program and witnessed the remarkable generosity of our community in supporting CAPS’ ongoing mission.

This fall we said goodbye to our founding CEO, Daryl Abbott. I had the privilege of connecting with Daryl early in my role, witnessing firsthand his optimism and his belief in our shared responsibility for every child’s safety, stability, and happiness. His social work background and entrepreneurial spirit continues to shape my approach to leading this organization.

As we move into winter, I am excited to share that CAPS has been selected by the Indiana Department of Child Services to bring our high-quality child abuse prevention programming to Marshall County. This grant-funded opportunity is a testament to CAPS’ reputation for exceptional service, allowing us to extend our support to even more children and families in need.

I am truly grateful for your incredible commitment to supporting families and ensuring the safety and stability of our community’s children. As I look toward the new year, it is with hope and excitement that together we can ensure the safest, brightest future for all children.

With warmth and light,
