April 11, 2015, was a day of heroics and family fun as more than 500 runners and walkers descended upon Studebaker Park in Elkhart for the first-annual CAPS Superhero 5K Run/Walk and Sidekick Kids Fun Run. The trails blazed brightly with colorful capes, cowls and running shoes. All of this activity led to thousands of dollars raised to help CAPS toward achieving its mission: To end child abuse in Elkhart County!
The scene is set now for our superheroes to return! On April 16, 2016, the Civic Plaza and Central Park in Downtown Elkhart will be the site of the second CAPS Superhero 5K, presented by ABC 57 and The Elkhart Truth!
Bring the entire family to downtown Elkhart to the Civic Plaza/Central Park that morning for fun, games, races, music, games and plenty of photo opportunities with local superhero cosplayers including a group from Elkhart’s own Hall of Heroes Superhero Museum!
Dress up as your favorite superhero (or villain) and run or walk a 5K course through downtown Elkhart plotted by Paula Turk at Stone Soup Promotions. CAPS is teaming up with the internationally known Hall Of Heroes Superhero Museum to bring real superheroes and villains to the streets of Elkhart. Allen Stewart from the Hall of Heroes and a panel of judges will give awards for the best and most creative superhero costumes. Other prizes include top finishers in several age groups and top fundraisers!
This is a family-friendly event, so we encourage strollers and even the family dog on the course.
All proceeds from the race benefit the mission of CAPS: To ensure every child lives a life free from abuse and neglect.
