What is Parenting Education?
CAPS helps parents acquire skills to raise happy, healthy children who are compassionate, cooperative, and responsible. Parenting Education supports the development of knowledge and skills for successful parenting and family life. With this in mind, CAPS also provides Community Education where families already have connections like churches, libraries, hospitals, and schools. Organizations can help CAPS’ efforts to provide parenting education within the Elkhart County community by scheduling classes at their locations. Organizations can choose from varied subjects. Seasoned instructors will help design classes in collaboration with the host site, then coordinate the timing of the classes. Fees may apply. Cooperative Family Development
Cooperative Family Development helps parents learn to use positive parenting tools while raising children who are happy, healthy, compassionate, cooperative and responsible. These classes are offered throughout the year. They include parent-child activities, one-on-one coaching for parents, and in-class learning and support. Meal and childcare are provided.
Classes are available in English and Spanish.

Parenting Education Seminars and Workshops
A variety of seminars and discussion groups are offered throughout the year. These classes focus on specific aspects of family living. Subjects include: effects of discipline, learning through play, single parenting, ages and stages, getting your child ready to learn, and many more. Childcare is provided for some, but not all of these classes.
Individual education sessions are also available.

Parenting for Professionals
Multi-day, comprehensive training is offered for front-line professionals who work with parents. This training teaches professionals to effectively use and teach their clients positive parenting tools, help professionals respond more effectively to their clients’ parenting concerns and have an increased knowledge, confidence and competence regarding these issues.
