Friday, Nov. 9, Child and Parent Services (CAPS) raised nearly $254,000 at their ‘80s-themed Vines, Steins and Stillz auction. Three hundred and seventy-five guests attended the event at the elaborately decorated RV Hall of Fame. Mr. Z Band played popular music from the decade while everyone enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from Café Navarre, an open bar and a large selection of silent and live auction items.
Prince made a surprise (and miraculous appearance), along with MC Hammer, George Michael, Joe Dirt, Michael Jackson and a few others.
Silent auction items at the event included a toboggan filled with cases of beer, a signed Michael Jordan basketball, Notre Dame men’s basketball tickets and a Flame Genie fire pit. The live auction included travel and concert packages, etched wine bottles, a custom jewelry experience and an in-home wine dinner with local foodie legends.
The funds raised from the event are crucial in maintaining the operation of CAPS. “We are so grateful for all of the support CAPS receives,” said CEO Melinda Konrath-Fielding. “It is wonderful to witness people from the community coming together and making a difference in the lives of children in Elkhart County.”
