Tim Fair, manager and head coach of CrossFit Elkhart (2774 Faith Ave.), hosted his first annual Faith RXD “Naughty or Nice” 2018 toy drive.

CrossFit centers from across the nation participate in the toy drive every year. While many of the fitness centers take this opportunity to collect items for Toys for Tots, Fair did some research and decided to host the donation drive for another local organization — Child and Parent Services (CAPS).

“It was kind of short notice,” said Fair about receiving the challenge from FAITH RXD. But he dove in, requested a wish list from CAPS and proceeded to advertise via Facebook and word of mouth.

“The response was amazing,” said Fair. In addition to donations received from clients, the community in general contributed to the cause. He even picked up donations from homebound individuals who wanted to donate.

“We had so much donated that we were also able to pull some aside to help some military families in need,” said Fair.

The items donated included cleaning supplies, paper products, toys, gloves and hats and more.

“(These donations are) going to allow our families to have a continuum of care,” said CAPS’s Development Director Jenna VanDePutte. “They won’t have to worry about supplying basic needs. (And) they’re going to have toys for their kids for Christmas that are age appropriate.”
